MediaTek has launched its Dimensity 9600 Pro mobile processor using TSMC’s most advanced 2-nanometre production technology, Reuters reported.
The company says the chip’s neural processing unit delivers a 51% improvement in generative-AI performance. The gain matters as more smartphone makers try to run assistants, image tools and language features directly on devices instead of relying entirely on cloud systems.
The launch also shows how the mobile-chip contest is shifting. Raw speed remains important, but energy efficiency and specialized AI processing increasingly determine what a flagship device can do.
